For the fifth consecutive season, The 38 Special for DIRTcar Modified presented by Leaf Tree Service, will once again take place at The Charleston Speedway.

Mike and Kat Leaf, owners/operators of Leaf Tree Service in Southern Illinois, had a vision of partnering with The Charleston Speedway to create a DIRTcar Modified race that not only had a great first-place prize, but they also wanted to be sure there was a great purse throughout the entire field. They also wanted the race to be a little longer than the normal 20 laps, but not so long that it really hurt the racers.
Just prior to the 2021 season, we sat down together, and the 38 Special was born. It’s hard to believe that the fifth 38 Special for DIRTcar Modified will take place during the 2025 season. Mike and Kat Leaf with Leaf Tree Service have a genuine love of racing, particularly DIRTcar Modified racing, and their passion for the sport has shown through over the years. The custom-made, metal-works of art, 38 Special trophies for the top 5 finishers, are the brain child of the Leaf’s and have become a very coveted trophy by drivers and teams.
This event has seen three different winners over the past four years.
Will Krup took home the first trophy during the inaugural event in 2021.
Tyler Nicely took home the top prize in 2022.
We saw a different Tyler outrun the 35 cars in attendance in 2023 when Tyler Weiss found himself at the top of the podium.
Our first repeat winner would happen in 2024 when Will Krup was out front as the checkered flag fell on lap 38 to claim his second 38 Special VICTORY!
Will we see a repeat winner in 2025? Or is there another driver that has what it takes to lead that final lap and write their name in the record books? July 12, 2025 is the day we will all find out!
In addition to the excitement that will come from The 38 Special for DIRTcar Modified presented by Leaf Tree Service, we will also have DIRTcar Pro Modified, DIRTcar Pro Late Model, DIRTcar Stock Car, DIRTcar Factory Stock and DIRTcar Hornets in action the same night!
