It was opening night on Saturday after two consecutive rain outs to start the season. It was a beautiful night for stock car racing as 86 drivers were in attendance.
The B-Mod feature provided the most excitement of the night. On the opening lap, John Nethery rolled his car in turns one and two. Five other drivers were involved in the crash. Everyone was fine. After getting the wreck cleaned up, Benji Rine and Ed Roley put on a show. The drivers exchanged leads several time before Rine took the lead with two laps to go to win the event.
Danny Schwartz jumped out to a big lead in the Modified feature before a couple of cautions bunched up the field. Schwartz led all the way before Kasey Schrock passed him on the last lap. Schwartz was able to get around Schrock and win the race.
In the Factory Stock feature, Randy Smyser took the lead after a single file start and led most of the way. However, a flat tire cost him the victory. Wally Kerst got around Smyser to take the checkered flag and the win.
In the Winged Late Model feature, Kenny Carmichael, Jr was able to pass early race leader Mike Staggs to win the race. Carmichael, Jr. picked up where he left off from last year as he had the most features wins in the class last season.
Track newcomer Aaron Garcia won the Hornet feature. Garcia led the entire way beating David Lauritson in the 12 lap event.
Next Saturday, the B-Mods will run for $550 to win and $80 to start, Other classes running are Modifieds, Streets, Factory Stocks, and Hornets. Gates open at 3:00 p.m.
