Bradham wins $550 B-Mod Feature

It was a special night at the Charleston Speedway on Saturday night. The UMP B-Mods raced in a $550 to win feature.

The B-Mods put on a show. Everett Bradham, the defending track champion, took the early lead. Jacob Wilkinson, Ed Roley, and Deece Schwartz battled up front with Bradham. The leaders got caught up in lapped traffic and Roley made a pass on the last lap. Bradham took the lead back and earned the victory.

Tommy Sheppard, Jr jumped out front and won the Modified feature. The race was red flagged at lap 15 when Kenny Carmichael, Jr rolled on the back stretch and landed on the hood of Ryan Cary. Both drivers were not hurt.

The Street Stock division made their debut at the track this year. Josh Griffith led every lap to take home the win. However, Jordan Smith, Lance Evans, and Megan Erwin made things interesting at the end when Griffith met up with lapped traffic.

In the Factory Stock feature, Jesse Simmons and Randy Smyser started up front. Simmons had a flat tire on the opening lap. Smyser took the lead and never relinquished it to take home his first feature win of the year.

Last week’s winner Aaron Garcia took the lead on the opening lap of the Hornet feature. Coming out of the first turn of lap two, Garcia went too high, enabling David Lauritson to grab the lead and the win. Kelley Bunch lost a tire and rolled once in turn three causing a stoppage in the race.

Next week is a regular night of racing at the track, with Modifieds, B-Mods, Factory Stocks, Hornets, and Winged Late Models running. Gates open at 3:00 p.m. Qualifying is at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow.
