Denny Schwartz Wins Neal Tire A-Mod Special

It was a special night at the Charleston Speedway as there was a Neal Tire $700 to win feature for the Modifieds. History was made during the race as the Schwartz family became the first to have three generations win a feature event in the same season.

Thirty Modifieds were on hand for the main event. Randy Shuman was the fastest qualifier of the evening and won his heat race. Other heat winners were Denny Schwartz, Danny Schwartz and Scott Justice. Wil Prater won an exciting Consi feature. Denny Schwartz jumped out to an early lead in the feature. On lap 16, Tyler Weiss passed Schwartz for a brief lead. Schwartz reclaimed the lead on a nice pass and led the rest of the way for the win. It was his first trip to the track this year.

Points leader Ed Roley and Scott Dunlap battled to the finish in the B-Mod feature. Roley led every lap for the win with Dunlap right behind him. It was Roley’s second feature win of the year.

The Hornet feature provided some excitement for the fans. Joe Reed, Danny White Jr., and David Lauritson were racing for the top spot. The cars came together on lap eight and White Jr. hit the wall coming out of turn four. White Jr. would see his night end. Reed maintained the lead until the final lap when Lauritson made the pass for the win.

In the Factory Stock feature, Jesse Simmons led all the way for his third straight victory. Randy Smyser came from the sixth starting position to finish in second place.

Josh Griffith won the Street feature. Griffith was battling Larry Long early in the race, before a wreck sent Long to the rear of the field. Megan Erwin and Dennis Wernle came up to challenge Griffith, before he claimed his third feature win of the year at the track. Wernle was second and Erwin was third.

Saturday will be a regular night of racing at the track, with Modifieds, B-Mods, Factory Stocks, Hornets, and Winged Late Models set to run. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with qualify to start at 6:30 p.m. and racing to follow.
