Prater Wins First Ever Modified Feature

A fast track made for some great racing action at the Charleston Speedway on Saturday. The evening saw a driver get his first feature win, a track qualifying record broken, and one tied.

Wil Prater found victory lane for the first time in the Modified feature. Denny Schwartz made an early push for the lead but hit the wall trying to pass Prater on the backstretch. Prater held off Ed Roley for the win.

It was a great night for Nick Miller in the B-Mod division as the Charleston driver tied the qualifying record and won a heat and the feature. Roley, who was racing in two classes, got underneath Miller and slid into first on the final turn. Miller went low and took the win.

Marvin Burton broke the track record in the Winged Late Model class. Burton was leading the feature before Derrick Hufford got around him and took the checkered flag.

Heat winners Joey Smyser and Danny White, Jr. led the field to start the Hornet feature. White, Jr. took the lead with Smyser battling him for the top spot. Smyser had a late flat tire as White, Jr. led every lap to win the race.

Points leader Jesse Simmons won both the heat an the feature in the Factory Stock division.

Saturday will be a regular night of racing with Modifieds, B-Mods, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Hornets running. Gates open at 4:00 p.m.
