Four drivers clinched the season points championship at the Charleston Speedway on Saturday.
The most intriguing race of the evening was in the Winged Late Model division. Points leader Mike Staggs had a one point lead over Kenny Carmichael, Jr. going into the feature event. Both drivers started on the front row with the one who had the highest finish would win the points title. Carmichael, Jr. took the early lead and looked as if he would cruise to the win after Staggs spun out and went to the tail of the field. Halfway through the race, Carmichael, Jr. had to leave due to overheating and Staggs took the championship. Kenny Carmichael, Sr. was the race winner.
In the B-Mod race, Ed Roley took the feature win. Roley also clinched the points title.
Danny Schwartz led every lap to win the Modified feature. Carmichael, Sr., who was racing in two classes, won the points championship.
In the Factory Stock feature, Randy Smyser cruised to the win with Jesse Simmons finishing in second. Simmons took the points title.
Matt Mackey jumped out to the lead and won his second Hornet feature of the year. The championship will be decided next week as Joey Smyser leads Danny White, Jr by 22 points.
The Kid Modz feature was won by Jeremy Sebens.
The Street points championship was clinched two weeks ago by Josh Griffith.
Saturday will be the final points night of the season with Modifieds, B-Mods, Streets, Factory Stocks, and Hornets running.
The Street Stock Fall Nationals will be on October 5th with the final night of racing on October 12th.
